5,000… Streak Continues
Five Thousand Daily Blog Posts Without Missing…
That’s right, April 13th was day #5,000. (Today is #5,003… Got busy and missed it on Tuesday.)
13 years, 255 days. Never missing a day.
I was in the hospital two different times including the major surgery on my shoulder and never missed. I had five or six computers crash during that time, more power failures than I could ever remember, and internet outages almost more than the power failures.
I have written and published nine books from blog posts and written a bunch more books as serial blog posts that I have not yet published and might never.
Sometimes I talk about events, a lot of running and basketball games, actually. Other times I get on a soap box about something or other in writing or publishing. Sometimes I write a few paragraphs just to get the blog done and keep the streak going.
A few really nice people on Patreon support this blog some each month and I really appreciate that. And in the early days I had a PayPal donation button. But honestly, I do this for me now. For a number of reasons.
1… It gives me a place to talk to people, even though out of the four thousand or so people here every week, very few comment, so mostly I am just talking with myself and that’s fine. Plus the next morning Kris reads this and sometimes discovers what I do around here until 4 or 5 in the morning. (Like tonight working on covers.)
2… Gives me a place to tell people about workshops and Kickstarters and bundles. I seldom mention my own writing unless it is in a Kickstarter or I am showing off covers.
3… At 5,000 days in a row without missing, the power of this streak is really amazing. I am taking that to heart with my fiction writing going into the future with a 250 word per day streak. Not started yet. I will talk about it when I do.
So the blog streak continues, at least for today, #5,003.
Not in a million years did I think I could do this. Amazing the number of buckets a dripping faucet can fill.
