The Fun Of In-Person Workshops…
And Sometimes Writer’s Conferences…
Since it has been over four-and-a-half years since we have done an Anthology Workshop, I had forgotten one of the things I loved the most about them. The brainstorming and idea exchanging that goes on all the way through. Morning, afternoon, and into the night.
In fact, late on Wednesday evening in the conference suite where we all got together after hours to talk, I was told about something one writer was doing and wow did that hit me. I’ve been looking for a new challenge for my fiction writing, something to drive me to the writing computer every day and get my pace back up to my normal 1.3 to 1.5 million words a year.
So after a lot of laughter, and a lot of shaking heads at the stupidity of the entire idea, I have pretty much decided to give it a try.
Yes, I know I am vague booking at the moment, but trust me, I get a few things worked out and I will tell you all about it.
But my point is that no chance in hell would I have thought of this on my own. It was the incredible sharing of information between writers that goes on in these sorts of gatherings.
So stay tuned as I change my entire sleep schedule around, remodel my office, and get ready for this brand new challenge writing fiction. To say I am excited is a gigantic understatement. Been a long couple of years with the eyes going bad, the injury while running to my shoulder, and then all the business crap at WMG this spring.
Stay tuned. It will be crazy and it will be a bunch of fun.

Excited to see what the challenge is, Dean. And glad to hear that things are hopefully returning to normal (well, as normal as 1.3 to 1.5 million words a year is haha).
