Challenge

One Challenge Aside, Maybe Another One Coming…

Officially Tossed in the Towel on the Story-Per-Day Challenge…

I will total up the number of stories at the end of the year, but got a hunch it will not be as many as the first time I tried that challenge. Just flat the wrong year for me to give this a push. Maybe on a future year I can get it off the ground.

But thinking I might do a seemingly impossible challenge starting up in mid-November when I turn 75.

The challenge?

To publish 75 major books in my 75th year.

Stand alone novels, novellas, collections, and any major product I edit with my name as editor on the front cover. (Those are more work than collections and novellas.)

I know some of you are struggling to hit 20 major books over a period of years, so you can watch this and see why it is possible.

I will not count publishing stand-alone short fiction. Just major books.

The details of the challenge have to be worked out yet, but I will actually be publishing myself at least half of them. And getting help on the other half from WMG for things like issues of Pulphouse and Detective’s Collide and things like that. But I will do pretty much on my own Smith’s Monthly every month and my own series of collections, although on the collections I might have a little help on Vellum, but I will do everything else, including the cover and also the covers for each story in the collection.

Totally nuts and totally fun. And wow what a challenge that has to be carefully worked out.

I will start putting up the issues of Smith’s Monthly and also the collections on my Patreon page and then after that on my store. Next month or so that will ramp up.

So one challenge a bust (although I got a bunch of stories out of it, so failed to success.) A new challenge firing up.

And I will have a writing challenge firing up at the first of the year as well. I need a bunch of novels for Smith’s Monthly.
