Novel Three: Day Seven
GETTING CLOSER…
(As a reminder, the overall monthly challenge is to write four novels and gain distance every week on my step count, starting the first week at an average of 11,000 steps per day.)
Only made about 6,000 steps again today. Just no time again today. Plus the wind was howling here today at over 25 mph. Not comfortable.
The Day Went Like This…
Got up at 1 p.m. even though I was up until 7 a.m. in the morning again. I wrote the forward for a Fiction River volume after I did my blog last night.
So tired today. First day of the challenge I didn’t get a full night’s sleep. Sleep is critical on this kind of thing.
Went to the writer’s meeting up at WMG until about 4:30 p.m., then worked there until I headed to the grocery store around 7:30 p.m. Got home, took a nap, and cooked dinner.
Got in here right around 10 p.m. once again for two more hours of e-mail and reading for the challenge. I am just puttering along on those. Reading every night.
Once my challenge is done, I will power and finish all the reading.
Got to the writing by midnight, which made me very happy. I wrote 1,200 words by 12:45.
Took a short break, did another 1,000 words, got stuck again on the novel.
Took a little longer break, got 1,100 words on the novel by 3 a.m. and it felt like I had written the ending. Very strange. But the book wasn’t over yet, so another short break and another 1,300 words making things just horrible for my characters and the world.
Short break and by 4:45 I had done 1,400 more words and gave up.
It sure would have been nice to end that novel right about where I wrote that false ending. But even though the relationship was worked out, the book was far from done. Strange how that happens, so in the next chapter, I tossed a bomb into the characters’ lives.
And maybe once again wrote myself into another corner. But what the heck, great fun.
6,000 words in 5 sessions.
