Finished the 1/2 Marathon
13.1 Miles…
I would have been sore tonight anyway, but after the spill yesterday and the cracked ribs and banged up shoulder, I now question my sanity. Almost 40,000 step day for those of you counting steps. Painful at times to say the least.
But I made it. Slow, not so sure, but made it along with 40,000 other half and full marathon runners. Right along the Strip in both directions. From beyond the airport to the downtown area. And back.
Kris met me just before the nine mile mark near our place downtown and took some fun photos.
Me in the normal crowd…
Me near one of the many downtown signs on Fremont Street.
Me on the road. Ogden and the downtown behind me.

Congratulations, Dean. Hell of an accomplishment.

Great, Dean! Especially after your fall. Persistence and patience win the race. I’m your age and still run long distances regularly. No matter one’s age I think it’s vital to keep moving whether it’s running or some other form of regular exercise.

My respect to you, Dean! I am not horribly surprised that you ran despite being cracked, and that you finished. You are just ornery and gristly that way. All those 5K races added up nicely, didn’t they? Just like a bunch of writing sessions 😉
If this makes any difference, seeing your progress had me sign up for a bunch of personal training sessions at the gym in a momentary lapse of reason. I figure next time I fly to Vegas, the plane seat will be nice and roomy for me.
