Challenge Day 5 and Also One Day Sale!!
Again I Was Stupidly Busy
But I expected as much. Didn’t help that I expected it, but at least I didn’t get upset anywhere along the line.
Tonight I put up the first weeks of two Monday classes. PUBLISHING MONDAY and also BITE-SIZED BRANDING AND TRADEMARK.
As I was talking with Kris about them and how few had signed up, she just laughed. She said I have to know by now writers say they want that sort of thing but actually don’t.
It seems that Kris and I are not normal. We want to keep learning everything we can, especially stuff that makes us more money and gets our writing out to a wider audience. Copyright, branding, and trademark are how we make our living.
So I went and looked at how many writers took the “Attend the 2023 Licensing Expo with Dean” or the class we offered called “Attend the 2024 Licensing Expo with Dean and Kris.” Both are still available and you can learn a ton from both about licensing, branding, and products. We might do it again in 2025 or we might just add stuff to the Monday classes. But very few took then when we offered them. Kris was right.
But coming up here I will be doing blogs a lot about licensing, branding, publishing, marketing, kickstarters, stores, and so much more. But since these two classes started tonight, I just thought I would mention them one last time here.

Day Five… Short Story Challenge…
As I said above, a totally crazy day.
Managed to get out of bed and get to my computer and do some email by 1 pm. Then at 2 Kris and I headed out to walk to lunch. Back about 3:30 and back up here to finish an issue of Pulphouse Magazine and get it turned in.
Then I turned my attention to working on the Series Collides Kickstarter that will launch on Tuesday at noon. Going to be a great one and also two really good and important special workshops.
This is a Make 100 Kickstarter and before we launch on Tuesday, Kickstarter has already looked at it and given us a “Project We Love!” How cool is that???
So I worked on that all afternoon before I went and cooked dinner at 6:30.
Back up here by 8 pm and did some more work on the Kickstarter before I realized I should start a short story. (Without the challenge I never would have written a thing today or yesterday.)
I typed in two half titles “His Head and a Future” and realized instantly it was a Bryant Street story. That was good because Bryant Street stories often tend to be shorter and I needed to stay short tonight unless I wanted to be writing when the sun came up. (I am sure that will happen some nights.)
So I wrote about 400 words of the story and went at almost 10 pm to take a nap, then get up and watch some television with Kris.
Back in here at 12 midnight and worked for another hour on the Kickstarter before going to my writing computer to finish up the story.
I wrote for just over an hour until 2:30 am and the story wrapped at 1.500 words. Really, really a twisted Bryant Street story and that is going some.
Now back to do this blog with a stop at Teachable to put in the code for the one day half-price sale on everything.
Now it is about 3:30 am and I am going back to finish up the Kickstarter project.
Crazy but productive day.
Word count
Story 1,500
Pulphouse and Kickstarter 1,200 words
Blog 650 words

What I want, and what I can pay for are not in the same category inverse, but I am very grateful you are making these things for the future, as I expect to purchase them all someday. Thank you.

I was thinking much the same thing, Heather…especially with the Canadian dollar being so very feeble just now!
