Advice From A Fiction Editor
Might Work As A Title…
I think I will call this series “Advice from a Fiction Editor.” I have about ten more stories to read that are from workshops as assignments, then I will change out hats and read as the Pulphouse Fiction Magazine editor.
Pulphouse is not open for submissions and never will be, so what am I reading? Backers of the Pulphouse Kickstarter in July get monthly prompts and using the prompt can send me a story for consideration. I did this last year and I had a blast and I bought some stories. Great fun.
And what is interesting is that the writers are actually (because they have a subscription because they backed the Kickstarter) are reading the magazine and seeing what kinds of stories I buy. Win for them, win for Pulphouse, and absolutely a win for me as editor.
So starting in a few days I will really be digging in on the stories (more than likely after the election… go vote for Harris). And as I do, I will be making general notes of advice to post here. I will never mention a certain story or author, of course. But will use this as general advice to those interested every so often.
One thing kind of fun. In the new Holiday Spectacular 2024 Kickstarter that just started and is doing really well, two of the books for two stretch goals are holiday issues of Pulphouse Fiction Magazine.
And also, you might not know that Pulphouse Fiction Magazine has a Shopify store with great fun merchandise, books and subscriptions. Check it out! But check out the Holiday Spectacular first. It lasts for two more weeks.
